The whole of downtown has a heavy white dusting of salt.
Last week a winter storm swept the country and Atlanta, Georgia was threatened with receiving 2-6 inches of snow. We almost never get that kind of winter precipitation so we really don't have the snow plows you see in northern states. The last time Atlanta was hit by a winter storm hundreds (maybe thousands) of people were stranded. I got lucky and caught the first bus out of the city. It was standing room only and it took twice as long to get home. By the time I got to my car the streets were barren and covered in ice.
So ever since then Georgia has been a little trigger happy with calling the next winter catastrophe. Last Friday I was sent home early along with all state employees. Needless to say Atlanta got just about nothing. Not even enough to was away the salt.
The suburbs did get a little. The trees in my neighborhood got some ice which made for some nice pics:
I've lived in Georgia my whole life. We get ice storms a good deal. Once or twice a year, and usually much worse than this most recent "event." But I think it has snowed enough to have a real snowball fight only four or five times total. And enough to make a legit, human-sized snowman once.
